I had to make a trip up north to drop off my car for maintenance, so afterward I decided to go hiking the Devil’s Backbone and Wild Loop trails at the Devil’s Backbone Open Space in Loveland, CO. It’s a quick and relatively easy route, coming in at 2.4 miles.
The real site to see on this trail is the Keyhole, just off of the Wild Loop trail. You get an amazing view of the western side of Loveland and Larimer County through this natural rock formation.
While hiking Devil’s Backbone is allowed in either direction, I would recommend starting on the higher leg to the left when you get to the start of the loop. This will take you to the Keyhole and close to the ridge line. On the way back you’ll drop to a lower leg that meanders through the rolling foothills towards the trailhead.
Today’s hike count: 94.
AllTrails difficulty rating: easy.
